About Kluang Chinese Temple Row

Kluang’s Chinese community arrived with the rubber estates, and the temples on the town’s eastern edge have been in continuous use since. They are working places of worship rather than exhibits — visitors are welcome, but dress and behave accordingly.

The best time to visit is during the lunar new year period or the ninth lunar month, when the courtyards fill with opera performances, food stalls and processions. On an ordinary weekday morning it is just quiet, smoky and worth twenty minutes.
